During the month of November, the Valley Caregiver Resource Center and the OASIS Adult Day Program celebrate our family caregivers for their sacrifices and continued support for their loved ones.
“Family caregivers are the backbone of our Nation’s long-term care system, doing essential work with devotion, often at great emotional and financial cost. We owe them. It is time to bring their service out of the shadows and celebrate and support them in living their own happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.” – US President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
The Caregiver Resource Program introduces you to Laura and her father Kenneth. Laura has been a client with CRC since 2018 and a vital member of the Merced Support Group.
Caregiver: Laura

My love for my dad. I get my strength from him to keep going.
What message do you have to other caregivers like you?
Please learn to be patient and kind. Take care of yourself as best you can, so you can be the best caregiver for your loved one.
What is a memory you hold onto?
My husband and I took dad on a cruise a few years ago and it was the best time. To see him smile and enjoy himself will always be a fond memory.
How do you get through the tough days of caregiving?
Pray a lot and not let it consume you. Call your friends and reach out for help and comfort.
